All surrounding objects such as buildings, cars, electric poles/lines and street lights begin to wobble. The next minute, an even more violent tremor strikes. A deafening noise echoes from objects creaking, collapsing, and breaking apart. The 2nd floor window of the green grocer in front collapses altogether with its frame. A sign board for a bank tied to an iron pole shakes furiously as well. Dust envelops across the street, some people are perplexed at where to run, some are sitting on the side of the street unable to move. Eventually, the shaking calms down and the town is in an uproar. Outside, neighbors are checking up on each other's safety. Murata town is a town known for its long-standing historical architecture such as the wooden buildings and earthen storehouses. Now the scars from the great earthquake are clearly visible all over that town, from the broken glass door that fell and shattered, contorted shutter of a retail store, and crumbled walls of earthen storehouses.
