Remington Model 17
Next up is the ever elusive Remington Model 17 made from 1921 to 1933. It is a pump action bottom loading/bottom ejecting 20 Gauge shotgun that was later developed into the Ithaca Model 37. This example shown here is an early 1922 production with a 28 inch modified choke barrel and is in excellent condition. This patented John Browning design was given a design assist by a John Pedersen patent and who better to assist than the man responsible for the recently released Remington Model 10 which also had a bottom loading/ejecting action but of Pedersens own unique design. Browning was well known for praising Pedersen and his accomplishments, which were many, and for his fondness for his designs. Come take a look as we examine these patents and many others attributed to this interesting hard to find Remington, take a close look at how it works, and shoot a couple of games of trap to see it in action.
