48 hours in zhangjiajie ⛰️ | hungry monkeys, national forest park, tianmen mountain

the best way to escape the city is to come to the mountains and forest of zhangjiajie. the sweet spring breeze and crisp air that filled every crevice of the mountains made this location the best place for a getaway. after flying in from chengdu and taking a day trip to fenghuang, i could not wait to see the yangjjiajie, tianzi, and tianmen mountains. it's crazy how these mountains are all naturally formed through years of erosion. this place is different from the vibes i got from yangshuo. i would say yangshuo was much more peaceful and i felt more "free" there. it is definitely because there were less tourists and i was able to bike freely. however, the mountains in zhangjiajie is something you cannot see anywhere else. and that in of itself is special i was also able to taste some of zhangjiajie's specialty dishes like the sour fish soup, blood tofu, and smoked bacon. these food made me feel back at home. even though i've never had these dishes, my family cook something similar. being away from home definitely took a toll on me but these meals gave me back the energy and excitement to travel lastly, i still remember when i first came into my hotel. the door was open and i was greeted very warmly by the family who ran the hotel. there were two young children playing around and eating instant ramen with their mother and father. their mother was hugging her children and they were all laughing. idk, something about that made me feel very welcomed and warm. the neighborhood i stayed in had many small local convenience shops. there were many children running in and out of the shop buying chips, sodas, and candies. seeing this just reminded me of my childhood :') places i went/stayed at: 1) Zhangjiajie Shi Guang Zhi Wai Boutique Hotel 2) Zhangjiajie National Forest Park 3) Tianmen Mountain chapters 00:00 intro 00:11 passing out... 00:54 going to the park 02:48 tianzi mountain 04:36 yunajiajie mountain 05:27 wild monkey :) 06:51 number 1 bridge under heaven 07:19 eat and leave 08:33 to tianmen! 11:24 climbing 999 steps 14:55 we made it 19:54 tianmen peak 23:42 looking for fortune 24:58 glass bridge 27:46 lunch & cable car seats 29:20 scenic peak 29:48 funny stories in cable car 33:23 i get buzzed out
