Was it Worth the Hike?

In today’s video I hike nearly 2 miles into a remote lake to try ice fishing a spot that rarely gets fished in the winter. I’ve fished this lake in the summer and fall before, but this was my first time pulling a full sled of ice fishing gear back here to see if the fish are still active under the ice. The day started with a foggy winter morning, a long hike through the snow, and thick 12-inch ice once I reached the lake. I drilled multiple holes, checked depths with the fish finder, set up jawjackers, and tried different baits like mealworms, shrimp, and tungsten jigs to see if I could find where the fish were holding. Even though the bite was extremely slow, this is the reality of ice fishing — sometimes the fish just don’t cooperate. This video is more about the adventure, exploring a quiet backcountry lake, testing new water in the winter, and enjoying the peaceful side of fishing when you’re completely alone on the ice.
