Was fortunate to catch the dancers making a ballet routine from scratch in real time, not one but two time! 🌌✨ This is "Ballet 101: The Choreography Game" live at the Esplanade Concourse for the da:ns focus 2026. The Performance: Watch how these incredible dancers—Etienne Ferrère, Rosa Park, Chihiro Uchida, Kenya Nakamura—and brilliant live musician Wilson So take on random ballet steps chosen entirely by the audience and weave them into a completely one-of-a-kind dance phrase right on the spot! Because the steps are drawn completely at random each session, the musician conversely has to adapt instantly and provide a suitable, matching music phrase for the changing moves. All in all, I am sure you can tell the immense difficulty it takes to make a high-stakes concept like this work—and voila, they did it with absolute ease! Turns out, all of the dancers were, at some point in time, Principal Dancers (the highest, most prestigious rank in a professional ballet company). Having that elite level of mastery explains why their spontaneous synergy was so completely mesmerizing to witness up close. The 2 dancer are also by chance husband and wife, so the chemistry is even all the more better!
