Controlling HAIR ALGAE and PEST ALGAE in a Macroalgae PLANTED REEF TANK

Controlling HAIR ALGAE and PEST ALGAE in a Macroalgae PLANTED REEF TANK An all too common issues in a planted reef macroalgae tank is hair algae smothering your desired macroalgae. In my experience it can be solved by adding a decent cleanup crew and promoting the growth of yout desired macroalgae, however if the balance isn't correct, hair algae can flourish. Another issue is pest macroaglae such as green bubble algae. This is one which im am struggling to control myself as it isn't out competed by other macroalgae. For green bubble algae the best thing is to prevent it entering your tank in the first place and remove it immediatly if it appears. Other issues can arise when desirable macroalge grow into each other and normally one will outcompete the other, i tend to reccomend that once a week you go through your tank and trim/remove any algae which is growing into each other.
