Best Refugium Macroalgae For Reef Tank CHAETO ULVA CAULERPA Lower Nitrates & Phosphates In this video I discuss the best macro algae to use in a reef tank refugium setup. Refugiums are used as a place to grow macro algae outside of the main reef display. Macro algae is normally grown in a refugium in the hopes of reducing nitrates and phosphates in the water to provide better water quality to corals. Macro algae use a lot of nitrates and phosphates as they grow and this makes them ideal candidates for growing in a refugium. The three most popular macroalgae for refugium are chaetomorpha, ulva and caulerpa. These are the species of macro algae i am discussing in this video.
