Once you understand it, you can get it ignited by simply isolating and replacing these three components! ① Generator Coil Assembly ② CDI ③ IG Coil These three components are independent of each other, and the main harness is largely unrelated (the only wire is the stop wire). The problem is that ① the generator coil assembly contains four coils: the charge coil, advance pulser coil, pickup coil, and generator coil, all tightly packed together, making it a single, inseparable assembly. As a result, if one coil breaks, the only solution is to replace the entire assembly. As explained in the video, even if you measure resistance, what happens when you actually apply electricity and all the other factors (dielectric strength of each coil + engine heat) come into play? You won't know the results until you try it yourself. It's a 40-year-old coil. The resistance is unstable, which makes me very suspicious. Furthermore, it's not a matter of which is at fault; rather, there are subtle differences in the way ① the generator coil assembly and ② the CDI wear. Even in working order, there are cases where ignition won't work if ① and ② don't match. (It's simply a matter of whether ① or ② is a bit off.) For example, let's say you have two vehicles, A and B, that are in perfect working order. If you remove the CDI from A (which is definitely in perfect working order) and install it in B, there's no spark. 💦 If you attach the CDI removed from B to A, it sparks normally. If you put the original CDI from A, which didn't spark in B, back into A, it sparks. Something's wrong? The original CDI from A only sparks in A (strictly speaking, it's A's generator set). Now, if you attach the complete CDI and generator set from A to B, it sparks. Of course, if you attach the complete CDI and generator set for Model B that you removed from Model B to Model A, it will spark. I'm not sure, but it seems that even the slightest difference in electrical resistance will cause either the CDI for Model A or the generator set for Model B to stop working, although they still work. It's gotten to the point where it's picky about which one it is. In a sense, it's on the verge of breaking down. This is Hawk's quagmire. It's just a matter of hit or miss. No matter how much I think about it, there's no solution. The only thing I can do is try replacing the generator set (1) and the CDI (2), which appear to be normal. 💦 It's hell. If you then start to suspect the IG coil (3), it becomes a three-way battle. If you replace the IG coil (3) with a reliable one before that happens, you'll have a better idea of ​​which ones are the culprits. But anyway, what do you mean? Since all the electrical equipment is 40 years old, replacing only what can be replaced with new parts will simplify and speed up troubleshooting. *As of 2020, there are professional coil repair shops available, so you can request a rewind. However, this requires rewinding three coils (pickups are separate) that are solidified with enamel, which is quite labor-intensive. The 400 series pickup coil is fixed to the aluminum case with epoxy, so it's probably impossible to repair. It's a good idea to make lots of Hawk-riding friends so you can try replacing them if you run into trouble.
