Bell Ringing at St Barnabas, Pimlico, London

The third tower of the Bucks and Berks and Surrey Young Ringers Outing to the Pimlico area. St Barnabas, Pimlico hang a old fashioned and clangy ten which were cast in 1849 by Charles and George Mears. Surprisingly, they go quite well and I thought I was expecting worse. The bells are quite tricky to ring up right due to the clappers being quite old and seized. When rung well, they actually sound good and not as bad as people make them out to be. The ringing room had a prison type environment with it being very dark and dank. Nonetheless, some positive spirits sprang high. In this clip you will hear a Bob Course of Grandsire Caters conducted by the famous Charles Botting. Please excuse the treble ringer's looks, he was quite tipsy at the time and had a few drinks. Enjoy!
