Frank O'Cain: Keeping Color Vibrant on a Wet-on-Wet Abstract Oil Painting
Frank O'Cain's demonstration at the Art Students League of NY on February 10, 2026 provides tips on how to keep colors vibrant when working wet-on-wet oil color to create an abstract painting.. During the demo, Frank shows how to tint a canvas and then builds up elements that interact to create a work with both feeling and light. Frank O'Cain is an important instructor at the Art Students League of New York, introducing generations of students to the basic principles of Abstract Painting developed by Cezanne and Hans Hofmann.
