The investigation revealed that he had ingested a high dose of Temesta, an anxiolytic he didn't usually take. A few hours before the tragedy, he had played a tennis match against Maxime Fauviau. This detail led investigators to Christophe Fauviau, Maxime's father, a former army warrant officer, accused of drugging 28 of his children's opponents by putting Temesta in their water bottles. He admitted the facts, claiming to have lost his mind and acted to relieve his own stress related to his children's competition, without any intention of causing harm. He admitted to putting one and a half tablets in Alexandre Lagardère's drink, indirectly causing his death.
