This time I’m exploring Stamford, Lincolnshire — often called England’s finest stone town — to find out whether it’s actually worth a visit. Before heading into Stamford itself, I start the day at the stunning Burghley House, wandering through the Capability Brown gardens, hidden corners, sculptures and beautiful grounds. Then it’s into town to explore Stamford’s historic streets, medieval charm, independent shops and famous stone buildings.
