Piedmont (75) deadheads from the Raleigh yard to the station in downtown (2023-05-26)

Here's today's Piedmont train 75 commuting from the yard near Capital Boulevard to Raleigh Union Station to pick up passengers for a 10:00 departure. It has to go pretty slow through here, so you can see the train long before the crossing prediction system triggers the warning bells. The locomotive's horns (or Whistles if you believe the signage on CSX) are already sounding the crossing pattern before the lights even start. Even with all of those warning horns, one truck decided to stop for the lights then go under the gates anyway as they were lowering, with the train already in sight and blowing the horn. 😞 This train is being pulled by NCDOT 1871, Town of Cary, with 1893, City of Burlington, in the rear. 09:26
