When I watch competitions, there are so many unfortunate people. They have great potential... but they can't win awards. There is always a reason for that. Because they don't understand that, even if they participate every year, the results are the same. Of course. It's because they don't know why they're not getting points, or what they're doing wrong. In fact, I've met many teachers I wanted to learn from. "I'm sorry, but I can't teach people from other schools," They all say that. As with any art form, you won't improve unless you're taught by a good teacher. Does your current teacher treat you kindly? I don't have many good memories of shigin (traditional Japanese poetry recitation). Young talent is crushed... but that wasn't true. There were many wonderful teachers, and they helped me a lot.
