LMR-AKKUS aus USA/Südkorea 😮 Wie innovative Zellen in Batterie-Packs kommen | Auto | Geladen Podcast
In this two-part podcast episode, we delve deep into the current trends in global battery chemistries and also discuss the often overlooked "cell intermediates" of modern lithium-ion batteries. Our guest, Dr. Peter Kritzer (Freudenberg), offers a rare, clear look behind the scenes of global technological developments. **Sponsorship**: Wechselpilot - Switching service for electricity & gas: Never pay too much for energy again! LFP and LMFP chemistries dominate there, scoring points with high cycle stability, cost advantages, and robust raw material chains. Peter Kritzer explains to us what role China's LFP technology export bans could play in the development of GM's so-called "LMR cells." On the anode side, the large-scale use of higher silicon contents above 3-5% remains an open promise – technically tempting, but not yet widely mastered. In the second part, we turn to the so-called "inter-cell layers" – the materials that hold battery cells together, making them more durable and safer. These layers between the individual cells perform three critical tasks: (1) They provide thermal insulation to prevent fires from spreading between cells. (2) They enable controlled compression and decompression so that the batteries (anode) can "breathe" and so-called "swelling" can occur in a controlled manner. (3) They serve as a mechanical barrier, ensuring structural integrity. In the Geladen podcast, Patrick Rosen and Daniel Messling and their guests explore the topics of energy transition, electromobility, electric cars, and batteries from a scientific perspective. The podcast is produced by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Geladen mugs, shirts & caps: https://geladen-der-batteriepodcast.m...
