We Joined a Cold Camping Event in Baguio City + Our First Time Experience of “Batok” Tattoo!

We joined the “Tagpuan” camping event in Baguio City and had one of the most memorable camping experiences so far. Before heading to the venue, we grabbed some ramen at Camp John Hay, then made our way to Scout Barrio where we set up our camp just a few kilometers away. The event was full of fun activities, games, and meeting new camper friends from different places. One of the highlights of the trip was finally getting my very first Batok tattoo from a well-known artist from Kalinga — a direct descendant of Apo Whang-Od. Such an unforgettable cultural experience. During the evenings, we enjoyed grilling barbecue and roasting marshmallows in our own fire pit just outside our tent while enjoying the cold Baguio weather. One special night, all the campers gathered together for a community dinner where everyone shared food, stories, and good vibes. We also experienced traditional Kalinga dancing and enjoyed live acoustic music from local artists, making the whole experience feel even more connected and memorable. We also got to try an amazing steak prepared by one of the camper chefs at the event. Another unexpected highlight was discovering homemade pastries made by one of the camper families. We tried their Dubai Chocolate and Banana Muffin, and they even gave us a free chocolate cookie to try. Everything was honestly so good and could definitely compete with popular cookie brands like Mo’ Cookies and similar pastry shops.
