ASMR Yearbook (page turning, pointing, soft spoken)

In early August, during an impromptu live stream, the subject of yearbooks came up, as a possible video idea. I was reminded that one of my favorite “imagination prompts” is flipping through old yearbooks, looking at all of the faces and school activities, wondering about how similar or dissimilar their high school experiences might have been to my own, as well as musing about where their life journeys took them after graduating. In thinking about turning that activity into a page-turning video for all of you, my thoughts landed on the notion of a century. How much difference does 100 years make? How much of the high school experience depends on the era we’re born into, and how much of it is fairly universal? How much of this can we discern just by looking through pictures and signatures in a yearbook? People born a century ago would have graduated high school in 1935, and so I went to eBay looking for a yearbook from that year. I also wanted one with lots of writing in it, as I feel the real personality of the day comes through in what people write. There are SO many yearbooks for sale on eBay, and I didn’t look for very long before grabbing this one, from Jordan High School in Los Angeles, on the eastern edge of the Watts neighborhood. 10:55 Opening the Book 17:45 Faculty 21:08 Classes 33:20 Organization 37:53 Activities 42:32 Literary 54:28 Athletics 58:20 Varieties 1:20:37 Finding Joe I hope you enjoy this patient exploration, with unexaggerated page turning sounds and soft-spoken musings about the things we find in the book. I hope the length of the video helps you to relax, to get into a calm, contemplative mood, or to get to sleep. Please follow me on Twitter (@gaslampasmr) for additional content related to my videos.
