Music from Frozen

The FilmHarmonia Orchestra plays Music from Frozen by Kristen Anderson-Lopez & Robert Lopez (arr. Bob Krogstad). Disney’s Frozen (2013) is loosely based on the 1844 fairy tale “The Snow Queen” by Hans Christian Andersen. However, where the source material is an archetypal fairy tale of good and evil, *Frozen*’s protagonist, Elsa, is something of an anti-hero. As a young princess, Elsa discovers her magical powers over ice and snow, but her true challenge is to conquer fear and self-doubt to save her realm, as well as her younger sister, Anna. The soundtrack, which pays homage to Scandinavian musical techniques, was destined for Broadway. This arrangement features the songs “Frozen Heart”, “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?”, “In Summer”, “Let It Go”, and “For the First Time in Forever”. “Let It Go”, a power ballad with a demanding vocal range, was a standalone commercial hit and is open to interpretation as a statement of proud defiance of societal expectations. https://filmharmonia.com/ https://static1.squarespace.com/stati... *Our Conductor - Joshua McNulty* Joshua McNulty is a seasoned conductor, composer, and educator in the Australian music community. As the founder and Musical Director of The FilmHarmonia Orchestra and the Musical Director of the Inner West Community Band, he has significantly fostered musical excellence. He has also led ensembles like the Macquarie University Symphony Orchestra, the Canaria Scoring Orchestra, the Wellington Players, and the Strathfield Symphony Orchestra. An accomplished reed player now exploring brass instruments, Joshua brings versatility to his music-making. He directs numerous school bands across Sydney and tutors aspiring musicians. His passion for narrative-driven music is evident in his compositions, premiered by both The FilmHarmonia Orchestra and the Inner West Community Band. A graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium under Dr. John Lynch and Dr. Anthony Clarke, Joshua continues to advance the Australian wind band community through his leadership and contributions.
