//Title: Fragrant Life (14) Growing Old Gracefully /Text: 1 Kings 11:1-8 /Preacher: Pastor Dae-sik Oh 1 King Solomon loved many foreign women, besides Pharaoh's daughter: Moabite, Ammonite, Edomite, Sidonian, and Hittite women. 2 Of these nations the Lord had said to the Israelites, "You shall not intermarry with them, nor shall they intermarry with you, for they will surely turn your hearts away after their gods." Yet Solomon loved them. 3 He had seven hundred concubines and three hundred concubines, and his wives turned his heart away. 4 When Solomon was old, his wives turned his heart away after other gods; his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father had been. 5 For he followed Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites. 6 Solomon loved them. He did evil in the sight of his father and did not follow the Lord fully, as David his father had done. 7 He built a high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, on the mountain that is before Jerusalem, and for Moloch, the abomination of the Ammonites. 8 He did the same for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and sacrificed to their gods.
