Krebsmutationen Deep Dives: Kann man p53 reanimieren?

TP53 mutations are by far the most common mutations in cancer – they lead to the weakening or failure of the "guardian of the genome." Logically, one cannot "inhibit" the failure of a tumor suppressor gene – but perhaps the damaged p53 can be reactivated? This presents a completely new form of targeted cancer therapy: The "gap" created by a TP53 Y220C mutation in the p53 protein can be closed with the drug rezatapopt – but what are the consequences? Would an already established tumor regress, indicating a response to therapy? The so-called PYNNACLE study answers these questions – practically fresh off the press!
