They Needed Space FAST… Early May Inspection & Major Growth | #colesfarmnc #jacksonvillenc

Welcome to the first inspection of May here at Cole’s Farm 🐝 This video spans May 1st through May 3rd and shows just how quickly things can change this time of year. May 1st started with a simple walk out to the bee yard—checking entrance activity and laying out the plan. With rain in the forecast, it was the perfect opportunity to finally get something done that had been delayed since March… waxing frames. The goal was simple: 👉 Get frames prepped during the rain 👉 Add space during the next inspection Fast forward to May 3rd—and the weather could not have been better. Mid to high 60s, low humidity, and perfect conditions to go through every hive in one shot. And the bees did not disappoint… In just about 10 days, the amount of progress was incredible: • Frames being drawn out rapidly • Colonies expanding fast • Honey supers filling up • Strong population growth across the yard I added several deep boxes with freshly waxed foundation to give the colonies the space they need to keep up with the nectar flow and help prevent swarming. A few hives that were questionable during the last inspection (about 10–14 days prior) appear to have resolved their issues, while a couple may still be working through requeening. I’ll be keeping a close eye on those in upcoming inspections. This is exactly why staying ahead of your colonies this time of year is so important—things can change FAST.
