Otuo Serebour Opoku-Ware, once a General Arts student from the Opoku-Ware School, Kumasi has been name the Overall Best Graduating student at the College of Engineering with a CWA of 86.75 Civil Engineering. An incredible history that will withstand the thirst of time in KNUST as a General Arts student becomes a valedictorian in a well-to-do all science students college. 🧠🧠⭐ This is the journey of Opoku-Ware Otuo Serebour, a young man whose commitment to excellence has not only charted a brilliant personal course but has also set a new standard at the prestigious Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). From Gilead Academy to OWASS Otuo is the second of four children born to Mr. and Mrs. Eric and Mary Opoku-Ware. His early education began at Gilead Academy, a place founded by his mother and grandmother, where his innate love for learning first took root. It was here that he demonstrated his early leadership potential, serving as Senior School Prefect. Following JHS, Otuo proceeded to the legendary Opoku Ware School (OWASS), where he chose the General Arts track, specializing in Economics, Geography, Government, and Elective Mathematics. His time at OWASS was marked by consistent dominance, culminating in an exceptional graduation with seven A’s and a B2. Driven by a developing passion for civil engineering, he pursued further studies in Physics and Chemistry at Elite College to fulfill the prerequisites for an engineering degree. The Making of an Engineer: Triumph at KNUST After a purposeful year of teaching and exploring software engineering, Otuo entered the Civil Engineering program at KNUST. His university career was nothing short of historic. He consistently ranked top of his class from the first year through to the final year and was recognized twice as the overall Best Student of the College of Engineering. His leadership skills continued to shine as he served as Chair of the Trade and Technology Committee and as a member of the Academic Executive Board of the Civil Engineering Students’ Association. A dedicated teacher at heart, Otuo was known for his generous spirit, often assisting colleagues and volunteering to help students prepare for retaking trailed papers. Outside of the classroom, his warm, approachable personality and sense of humor made him widely popular, and he found leisure in sports like football, basketball, tennis, and swimming. Otuo's academic record is a testament to extraordinary discipline and focus. Over his four-year program, he took 60 courses (151 credit hours), achieving an astonishing 57 A’s and 3 B’s, with a flawless straight-A record in his first, second, and final years. His lowest score was 69, while he achieved the highest possible score of 99 multiple times. A closer look reveals his high-scoring consistency: Scored 90-99: 25 times Scored 80-89: 21 times Scored 70-79: 11 times Scored 69: 3 times
