Broken by COVID, Saved by Grit: The Story Behind the 83.07 CWA.

From Kasoa in Ghana's Central region, where dreams are often blurry and motivation drives youth to succeed, Felix Quacoe Baidoo overcame setbacks. He completed Jukwa SHTS as the top student in the Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira District, earning 7 As and a B, and is now the valedictorian of KNUST's College of Arts and Built Environment with a CWA of 83.07 in Land Economy. Unfortunately, due to financial constraints, he couldn’t pursue higher education immediately, so he worked as a teacher at a primary school in Kasoa to save money for his education. COVID-19 hit the following year, 2020, and he lost his job as well. In January 2021, he was accepted into the University of Ghana School of Law to pursue a Bachelor of Laws. He went hoping to secure campus funding to support his studies. Unfortunately, that fell through, so he deferred early in the first semester of his first year and returned home to find another teaching job. Later, he participated in the Population and Housing Census as a field officer in late 2021. He eventually found someone who helped him apply for the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship Program at KNUST, which he was fortunate to receive. He gained admission in 2022 to study BSc. Land Economy. In his first year at KNUST, he was named the overall best Mastercard Scholar, the best male scholar of his cohort, and the top first-year student in the Department of Land Economy. In his third year, he was once again awarded the best male scholar of his cohort in the Mastercard Scholarship Program at KNUST. Indeed you can even see determination in his eyes.
