Ambient Clinic Visit Recording and AI in Older Adult Care

Dr. Barr is an Associate Professor at The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy & Clinical Practice, Biomedical Data Science, and a Center for Technology and Behavioral Health member at Geisel School of Medicine. Dr. Barr is trained in quantitative and qualitative methods. Dr. Barr’s research agenda has been funded by the National Institutes of Health (including NIA, NCI, NLM, and NIDA), the Patient Centered Outcome Research Institute (PCORI), and private foundations. Dr. Barr leads the www.openrecordings.org a multidisciplinary group of researchers, patients, caregivers, and doctors working together to understand how to improve the communication of clinic visit information. They are particularly interested in the use of audio and video recordings of clinic visits to support this communication, and AI related applications based on recordings. Dr. Barr’s research portfolio also includes the development and implementation of shared decision-making interventions and measures (e.g., CollaboRATE).
