PALMA DE MALLORCA -part 2
Hello, my friends! If you want to like, comment, share or subscribe I'll be very happy! As always, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the friendship and affection you always show me through your visits and comments. Here we are at the second and last video made during my recent trip to Palma de Mallorca. In this second part I will first show you the wonderful Bellver Castle, with its characteristic circular shape, one of the four castles in Europe with this plan and the only one in Gothic style with a circular plan. It is located a little off-center, but easily reachable on foot as we did, with a nice regenerating walk uphill. The Castle, immersed in a splendid pine forest, is located 113 meters above sea level and from the top of the hill you can admire a fantastic panorama that extends over Palma and its enchanting bay. Bellver Castle was commissioned at the end of 1200 and was also used for a long time as a royal residence, mint and prison. It has three towers, also circular, that characterize it, as well as the beautiful two-story central courtyards that in the summer also become a stage for events and concerts. Then we will take a short tour around the Royal Palace of La Almudaina and the Cathedral of Palma, dedicated to Santa Maria, which we will then visit both inside. The Cathedral, entirely built in sandstone blocks is a true jewel in Catalan Gothic style. The interior was restored by Gaudì at the beginning of 1900 and the spectacular central rose window, made up of 1,200 crystals, is the largest in the world. La Seu, as it is also called, is the true landmark and symbol of Palma and is one of the most splendid monuments in all of Spain. I was truly impressed by its beauty. The interior is wonderful with the incredible play of light that is formed and that floods the naves creating an almost magical mystical atmosphere. The Almudaina Palace is still used by the Spanish Royals when they visit Mallorca and is positioned right next to the Cathedral, creating a wonderful setting. This historic building symbolizes the history of the Island through the centuries with splendid interiors, tapestries, courtyards and the beautiful Capela de Santa Ana. It is definitely worth a visit. Finally, a short tour around the picturesque neighborhood of Santa Catalina, which I would have liked to visit better, but due to bad weather and lack of time, I was unable to complete. But I did not miss visiting, before a very strong storm, the Barrio Es Jonquet, the fishermen's neighborhood, with its characteristic white houses and mills. Truly fascinating. And the view of Palma is unique from this point too. Friends, I hope you will enjoy watching this video and that you will spend a few minutes in serenity enjoying the beauty of these places. A big hug from Milan! Enjoy! Renata
