Los techos de cristal también se rompen | Juana Borja | TEDxUAGRM
Juana Borja shares her inspiring academic and professional journey. She faced challenges in a predominantly male environment, but learned that challenges are a part of life. She led a faculty with a large number of students and professors and became Dean. Her leadership highlighted the need for gender equality in higher education and demonstrated that it is possible to be a mother and a leader. Juana Borja emphasizes the importance of breaking down gender barriers and working together to achieve sustainable development. She is the first woman to be Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business at U.A.G.R.M. since its founding more than 81 years ago. In 2016, she became the first female Vice-Rector of the UAGRM since its founding in 1880. She led the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FCEE) to become the first academic entity in Bolivia to achieve free and unrestricted internet connectivity. This enabled the creation of educational spaces that engaged more than 8,000 students and over 600 faculty members from across the UAGRM in 2020 alone. She also secured international certification for the FCEE through the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network and the Latin American Union of University Social Responsibility. Ms. Borja received awards from the Santa Cruz Departmental Legislative Assembly (2020), the Plurinational Legislative Assembly (2021), and the Confederation of University Professors (2022). This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
