“砂で世界旅行”今年はスペイン！　鳥取砂丘「砂の美術館」(2026年4月24日)

A new sand sculpture exhibition has opened at the Tottori Sand Dunes Sand Museum in Tottori City. The Sand Museum, located in the Tottori Sand Dunes, holds annual exhibitions with a different theme each year, based on the concept of "A World Tour in Sand." This year, in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the death of world-renowned architect Antoni Gaudí, Spain, the country of passion, was chosen. Twenty sand sculptors from 14 countries around the world, including Japan, Spain, and Italy, created their works using approximately 3,000 tons of sand from the Tottori Sand Dunes. Nineteen sand sculptures, including Gaudí's unfinished masterpiece, the Sagrada Familia, bullfights, and Don Quixote, are displayed in the museum, delicately expressing Spanish history and culture. The exhibition, themed on Spain, opened on the 24th and will run until January 3rd of next year. After the exhibition ends, all the sand sculptures will be dismantled and reborn as the next works.
