[HD] BNSF Y-WAT1041 748 Job Chase from Watson to El Segundo with H3 GP60M!

Here is a chase of the BNSF Y-WAT1041 748 Job from Watson Yard in Wilmington to the Chevron Refinery in El Segundo, CA on the BNSF Harbor Subdivision, with a rare H3-painted EMD GP60M, number 130. The 748 is the weekend relief job of the 1st Watson and generally performs the same duties. We begin at Watson Yard as the local pulls up to the yard office before Lomita Blvd before departing. We capture it westbound at Wilmington Ave just outside the yard, then again at Torrance Blvd in Torrance, passing thru the scenic area affectionately called "The Jungle". The curve to the north of this crossing was the site of a head-on collision between the local and a power move in 2023. Next, the train is seen passing under the Marine/Redondo Beach Metro Green Line station further northbound. We follow it to Douglas Street, the northernmost crossing of the active portion of the Harbor Sub, where the train clears the switch and shoves into the Chevron storage yard to pull and spot cars. Once the switching is complete, the train goes around the wye to face south, ducking under the Metro Green Line tracks at the Douglas Station. The train will pull up to Costco for beans, then proceed southward toward Alcoa, paralleling the Metro Green Line up to the Rosecrans/Aviation truss bridge. This location sits on the corner of three cities - Manhattan Beach, Hawthorne, and El Segundo. The train then passes through the scenic community of Lawndale, where we get a couple shots and an excellent telephoto zoom. This stretch of greenery and trees was recently saved from becoming part of the Metro Crenshaw/LAX Line Corridor extension to Torrance, as residential outrage pushed the Metro Board to choose the alternative Hawthorne Blvd alignment for the project. Upon arrival at Alcoa in the industrial district of Torrance, the train begins switching Torrance Refining, pulling and spotting more tank cars. With its industrial switch work finished, the train continues back to Watson. We catch the train at the south end of the Torrance Jungle by Carson St, then follow it to Lomita Blvd in Wilmington, right before it enters Watson Yard. The BNSF H-WATBAR was blocking the Long Beach leg of the wye, so the train had to pull head-into the yard and run around the cars, granting a rare opportunity to see the train from the CA-1 PCH overpass high above the middle of Watson Yard. The Harbor Subdivision was Santa Fe's former mainline from Downtown to the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach before the Alameda Corridor was constructed in 2002. Once seeing numerous long freight trains, the only traffic left on this line is locals and occasional intermodal storage moves. The Harbor Sub, now being split in two, is only active around Malabar Yard in Vernon in the north, and from El Segundo to Wilmington in the south.
