Let’s explore the depths of it in the video. The Hound lumbers over to his brother, reaching over his shoulder and pulling his longsword over his shoulder. However, he is a fraction too late as the massive knight’s sword descends upon Ser Loras. The young Tyrell screams as the blade hacks a deep gouge through his armor. Although the plate is designed to block against sword cuts, the sheer strength of the Mountain is enough to leave an ugly gash. Loras screams in pain, his body thrashing on the ground. In the stands, people scream and jump to their feet. Some try to run away, others reach for their own weapons. The first to reach the Mountain is Sandor, who intercepts his next strike and shoves him back. For a moment, Gregor is too stunned to react to someone actually forcing him back. The Hound takes full advantage of that and presses forward. His blade rises and falls, meeting Ser Gregor’s greatsword. Their weapons lock as Robert shouts for his guards. He tries to cleave his younger brother in two, but the Hound squares his shoulders and blocks the next strike. He then twists and pushes the Mountain’s swing down and slams his armored elbow against the massive knight’s face. Blood bursts from his ruined mouth, but Gregor only roars in anger and tries to smash his fist down at him. However, Sandor sidesteps the attack and tries to elbow him again. This time, his brother catches it and slams his brother onto the dirt. However, before the Mountain can pick up his sword, someone appears on his back. Renly: You bastard! I’ll kill you! Though he is unarmored, Renly has a dagger in his hand and repeatedly plunges it into his neck. Around him, guards begin to gather. Some of them jab spears and others aim crossbows, trying to corner him like a bear. These spears prod and strike at his battered armor until one man rushes forward and drives his spear into the Mountain’s thigh, dropping him to his knee. As the Mountain loses balance, the rest of them rush forward, battering him with hammers and axes. When they pull away, he is bleeding from a dozen wounds, gasping for air, and shuddering. Yet beneath the blood on his face, he continues to glower angrily at them, spitting defiantly. They prepare to finish him off, but a hand orders them back as the Hound steps forward, his own blade in his hand. Hound: Get back, he’s mine. No one dares challenge the large warrior who walks over to the Mountain and drives his sword into his throat. And then, with another cry, he sweeps his sword across his neck and sends Ser Gregor’s head flying. For a long moment, there is silence as a maester hobbles over and helps drag Ser Loras aside to be treated. With that, the match is declared forfeit, and the tourney ends not with a bang, but with shock at the outburst of violence. Everyone soon begins to disperse, their bodies shaking in horror at what they just saw. None is more shocked than the Reachmen, who all send men to help treat the Knight of Flowers and condemn Ser Gregor’s actions to a man. Tywin also sends word, denouncing Ser Gregor and praising Sandor for his action. That is perhaps the only thing that lets him salvage the situation slightly, that the Hound was also a Lannister bannerman and served in their household. However, even then, the seeds of discontent are sown. Despite Maester Pycelle’s best efforts, Ser Loras dies from his wounds, plunging the court into a state of mourning as Robert orders a funeral prepared for him. The king personally offers condolences to his family. But it is Ned Stark whose eyes fall upon. Like the other great houses, the Tyrells keep an ear to the court and the happenings there. They know of Ned’s conflict with the Lannisters, the incident in the Ruby Ford, and the rumors that he is looking into something. Many lords and knights from across the Seven Kingdoms arrive to show respect for the Knight of Flowers, cut down too soon. The streets of King’s Landing are soon awash with a current of silk and lace as they gather around the Sept of Baelor. For a whole day, the nobility of Westeros stand there until the last rites are spoken and the Silent Sisters move to escort his body home. His brother, Ser Garlan Tyrell, had stood vigil over him. #gameofthrones #gameofthroneswhatif #whatif
