When the young priest Marcel Köhle, pastor of the parish of Brigels, announced his resignation, everyone was shocked. He had fallen in love and wanted to end his double life. In a film, he speaks for the first time about the difficult decision he made between the altar and love. On July 15, 2018, after Sunday Mass at the church, Marcel Köhle announced his resignation. The young and popular pastor in the Grisons parish of Brigels had fallen in love with a woman – but as a Roman Catholic priest, he is bound by celibacy. Now he has decided to live with his partner. The parish was dismayed; no one had suspected a thing. After his resignation, Marcel Köhle withdrew from public life and declined interview requests. He needed time to think about his future. A year and a half later, in a film portrait by Bertilla Giossi, he offers insights for the first time into his difficult, emotional decision-making process. It is the story of a dilemma between career and woman, between liturgy and love. Meanwhile, his congregation is advocating for a relaxation of the mandatory celibacy requirement.
