How aftermath to protest against Nirankaris in 1978 changed the course of Punjab forever? Ep 49

This report traces back the prequel to operation Blue Star in the Indian state of Punjab in the Nirankari Kand which took place on April 13, 1978 in Amritsar. Ritesh Lakhi is seen here analysing the historical perspective and a critical and history changing event in form of Nirankari action which was a major turning point in the history of Punjab with Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale emerging at the centre stage of Panthic politics of Punjab in the state's most turbulent and challenging of the times. Ritesh Lakhi recalls the Nirankari Kand which was essentially a clash between the supporters of Akhand Kirtani Jathan and Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale on one side and Nirankari followers who were having a religious convention at Amritsar on this fateful day that saw many casualties owing to the clash. The fundamental differences in the philosophical and practice related realm which existed between the Nirankari sect and Sikhism as such culminated into a flashpoint in April which turned the course of Punjab's history as most volatile of times were yet to be witnessed in Punjab ahead of operation Blue Star in 1984.
