Vatnajökull Glacier, Seals in its lagoon, Jökulsárlón, and Diamond Beach | Iceland 11 | LowCosTravellers Here's the next video from our trip to Iceland, and in this one, we finally reach the glaciers. In fact, we spent the night on the edge of one of the Vatnajökull glacier's lagoons, Fjallsárlón Lagoon, which was absolutely stunning at sunrise, with the pink and orange hues of the sky reflecting on the water and coloring the glacier and its icebergs. Truly breathtaking. Plus, since the wind was still, we were able to fly the drone and film some shots of the glacier, the lagoon, and the icebergs, which were simply spectacular. And this is just the small lagoon; from here, we're off to the big one... We set off for the glacier's large lagoon, Jökulsárlón, taking care on the track that led us to where we spent the night. After that, the road is good, and we arrive in no time. We didn't park in the main parking lot, which charges, but in a smaller one before it, from where we started a short walk along the edge of the lagoon. We highly recommend this, as it's the ideal way to enjoy the lagoon, the views, and the scenery. Plus, we saw seals—quite a few of them! After walking along the entire edge of the lagoon, we reached the mouth of the Jökulsárlón gorge, a small channel where the water rushes at breakneck speeds to the sea, carrying with it numerous icebergs of all sizes that have broken off from Vatnajökull. Following the water's course, we also reach the sea, specifically Diamond Beach, which gets its name from the tiny, diamond-like pieces of ice washed ashore by the waves. These contrast spectacularly with the beach's completely black volcanic sand, creating a truly magical landscape.
