Lake District Walks: Sour Howes & Sallows

Sour Howes and Sallows are two, relatively low fells close to the village of Troutbeck that offer walkers a nice short expedition to some rarely visited summits. The route up is steep (and can be slippery in wet weather!) which leads to the summit of Sour Howes, offering distant views over Windermere and across Morecambe Bay. From there the moorland is crossed to the slightly higher summit of Sallows which looks down into Kentmere and also towards Morecambe Bay. The descent follows the Garburn Pass offering continuous views down into Troutbeck.
