The general coordinator of EH Bildu, Arnaldo Otegi, highlighted on Monday the "spectacular growth" of his party in Sunday's Basque regional elections, where it garnered 100,000 more votes than in the previous elections and 27 seats, six more than before, a "historic record for the pro-independence left." For Otegi, this result confirms that "things have already changed." "They were already changing in the municipal and regional elections and in the general elections," he noted, alluding to the party's significant growth in these elections, and "yesterday it was confirmed that the change is here." He made these remarks at a press conference on Monday following a meeting of the party leadership to analyze the results of the April 21st election. Beyond focusing on his own party, Otegi pointed out that in the Basque Parliament emerging from these elections, "55 out of 75 members are pro-independence," referring to the combined seats of the PNV and EH Bildu, and they maintain that "Euskal Herria is a nation with the right to decide."
