Passing of The Baton of Leadership 2026

A historic chapter has begun for The Barbados Police Service. This morning at Police Headquarters, Roebuck Street, outgoing Commissioner of Police Richard Boyce symbolically handed over the Baton of Leadership to Commissioner-designate Sonia Boyce, marking a significant transition in the Service's leadership. Describing the baton as a symbol of trust, responsibility and leadership, Commissioner Richard Boyce expressed his confidence that Commissioner-designate Boyce will continue to lead the Barbados Police Service with integrity, courage and dedication. He also praised her professionalism, commitment and readiness to guide the organisation into its next chapter, noting that she is well prepared to lead while maintaining the highest standards of discipline and service. Commissioner-designate Sonia Boyce, who officially assumes office as Barbados' first female Commissioner of Police on Friday, July 3, shared her vision for the future of the Service.
