#61 Teologia jako „silna myśl” (Słomka & Strzelczyk)

Information about the podcast, episodes, and authors: https://teologiazkatowic.pl "Strong Thought" is a term coined in opposition to "weak thought," one of the key concepts in the philosophical thought of Gianni Vattimo (1936-2023). Weak thought is almost synonymous with postmodern thought, emphasizing its opposition to Enlightenment thought—strong thought. During the conversation, we first present the social and biographical roots of Gianni Vattimo's "weak thought," and then attempt to capture the most important characteristics of this weak, or postmodern, thought. We emphasize two points: the rejection of the idea of ​​truth (because this idea would lead to violence) and the dismantling of the idea of ​​subject identity, and especially the persistence of this identity over time. But the central question of our conversation is theology. We recognize that theology, at its core, must remain strong thought. The foundation of its strength is its reliance on Revelation, accepted in faith. This foundation also gives theology the strength to become, in certain areas, a weak thought. We consider ways for theologians to engage in dialogue with a contemporary culture increasingly permeated by postmodern thinking. Here, a difference emerges: each of us prefers a different path for such a conversation.
