La Tragedia de Israel y el Amor Inquebrantable del Padre | Oseas 11 | José de Segovia
#JoséDeSegoviaBarrón In this message on Hosea 11:1–11, José de Segovia expounds on one of the most moving texts in the Old Testament: the revelation of God’s paternal heart toward his people. Many people imagine God in opposing ways. Some think only of a God of justice, ready to punish all evil. Others prefer to imagine a tolerant God, who overlooks sin and never seriously judges our actions. But Hosea 11 presents us with a much deeper image: a holy, just, compassionate God, full of paternal love. The prophet Hosea portrays Israel as a beloved child, called by God from Egypt, cared for, sustained, and drawn with cords of love. However, the more God called his people, the more they strayed from him. This is also the story of the human heart: we flee from the only true love, we seek substitutes, we erect idols, and we try to find in other things what only our Heavenly Father can give us. José de Segovia explains how this passage helps us understand Christian adoption: it is not enough to speak of God as Creator, Judge, or Lord; the believer needs to know Him as Father. Not as a projection of our earthly parents, often absent, weak, or contradictory, but as the heavenly Father revealed in Christ Jesus. The message also addresses the tension between God's love and justice. Hosea announces judgment upon a rebellious people, but at the same time, God asks, “How can I forsake you, Ephraim?” His heart is moved, His compassion is inflamed, and His holiness is shown not as distant coldness, but as a mercy greater than our own. The heart of the message is Christ. The New Testament quotes Hosea 11 in Matthew 2 to show that Jesus is the true Son, the true Israel, the obedient Son who accomplishes what Israel could not. He bears the judgment, the curse, and the exile that we deserved, so that we may be received as children of God forever. On the cross, God's love and justice meet. The Father does not overlook sin, but neither does He abandon His children. Christ, the obedient Son, suffers the punishment of the rebellious children to open the way for us to return to the Father. This message is a call to stop running from God, to acknowledge our guilt, to turn back to the Father, and to rest in the work of Jesus Christ. If you are a child of God, you are not an orphan. You have a Father forever. 00:00 What image do we have of God? 01:11 What we think about God shapes our lives 01:58 Reading from Hosea 11:1–11 04:02 Do we see God as our Father? 04:56 Heavenly Father is not like our earthly parents 05:53 Hosea 11 and the heart of God 06:15 Israel as a beloved child called out of Egypt 07:20 God delivers his people from slavery 07:58 The Spirit of adoption: “Abba, Father” 08:29 Are you a son or daughter of God? 09:28 Prodigal children who run from God's love 10:05 Idols as substitutes for the Father 11:13 Human cords and cords of love 11:37 God does not dominate us, he draws us 12:19 The liberating God who lifts the yoke 12:57 The God of love is also a just God 13:36 Why does God's judgment bother us? 14:42 God Cannot Overlook Our Evil 15:08 Matthew 2 and the Quotation from Hosea 11 16:47 Jesus, the True Israel 17:27 Christ, the Faithful and Obedient Son 17:42 The Rebellious Son and the Seriousness of Disobedience 18:59 Christ Suffers the Punishment We Deserved 19:44 The Lamb, the Blood, and Deliverance from Judgment 21:13 Eternal Life Through the Son's Obedience 22:43 The Conflict in God's Heart 23:12 “My heart is moved within me” 23:47 God's Holiness and Compassion 24:45 God Is Not Man: Impassibility and Mercy 26:39 We Have All Sinned, But We Are Justified by Grace 27:36 Christ Exiled on the Cross for Us 28:41 Propitiation: Christ Bears God's Wrath 30:32 Christ Redeemed Us From the curse of the law 31:37 Salvation belongs to God alone 31:45 Is the gospel from God or from man? 32:33 The roar of the lion and the hope of return 35:32 God leads us to our true home 35:41 The most important question: Are we children of God? 36:35 What separates us is not recognizing Him as Father 37:03 Love and justice in the heart of God 37:37 The heart of God torn apart on Calvary 38:22 The punishment falls on Christ or on us 39:04 “How can I abandon you?” 39:23 A Father Who Does Not Abandon His Children 40:15 The True Father Who Never Disappoints 40:27 We Are Not Orphans: We Have a Father Forever 40:49 Closing Prayer Biblical Text: Hosea 11:1–11 Sermon: José de Segovia Barrón Original Message: The Heart of the Father Channel Administrator: Maikel Quiroga
