Der Geher in Hamburg: Moorburg

I am Der Geher and this time in Moorburg. The route starts at the Unterburger Absetzteichen and leads onto the Moorburg church dyke past many detached houses. A short detour past the St. Maria-Magdalena church and then over the Moorburger Elbdeich. After a lot of greenery, you reach the Altenwerder container terminal. The route ends at the Kattwyk Bridge. Moorburg has been part of Hamburg since 1375 and was the only district south of the Elbe for almost 600 years. Moorburg Castle, built in 1390, was constantly occupied and the right to stack was exercised. Hamburg won a dispute with Lüneburg over this right. Around 700 inhabitants live here today.
