Breaking Camp and Heading Home | Canoe Trip – Part 3

After an extremely comfortable night in camp, despite the sound of strong winds passing overhead, I wake to a dull, overcast morning on the Broad. The canoe shelter had worked brilliantly and proved far better than I had hoped for. The morning begins slowly with coffee and breakfast, although the peace is briefly interrupted when two fishermen moor nearby and hold a very loud conversation, bringing filming to a temporary halt — one of those small realities of being outdoors in popular waters. Once things quieten down, I cook a simple feta and tomato omelette while gradually packing away the camp, and spend a little time reflecting on how well the setup had worked. With everything stowed, it’s back onto the water for the paddle home. The forecast high winds never really materialise, and the return journey proves calm and uneventful — a quiet end to a very satisfying trip.
