“35mph Winds on Hickling Broad… We Had to Bail”
What started as a relaxed canoe trip on Hickling Broad quickly turned into a serious challenge as strong winds swept across the Norfolk Broads. I headed out with a subscriber for a low-key overnight paddle—crossing Hickling Broad, setting up camp, enjoying a fire, good food, and a peaceful (and frosty) night under the stars. But by morning, conditions had changed dramatically. With winds gusting up to 35mph, the return journey became extremely difficult. The stretch towards Potter Heigham turned into a wind tunnel, and attempting the bridge safely was no longer possible. We made the call to bail out and regroup. A great reminder that even familiar waters like the Norfolk Broads demand respect. If you enjoy canoe camping, wild camping, and real-world adventure, you're in the right place. #canoecamping #norfolkbroads #wildcamping #adventure Music: Bensound.com/royalty-free-music Artist: Benjamin Tissot License code: GBS4ZWRX77VY60MC
