Newtownards Famine, Workhouse and Bully's Acre Burial Ground
The video details the effect of the famine, particularly in Newtownards and the workhouse which was built to taken in destitute people and provide them with accommodation and work. Bully's Acre was the burial ground for the paupers who has died and their relatives had no money to pay for a burial in a church or council graveyard. They were buried in communal graves without any markings or headstones
