Since it opened in 1836 Mount Jerome Cemetery has witnessed over 300,000 burials. Some wealthy families spent small fortunes creating impressive monuments to commemorate their dead and display their wealth. The cemetery has one of the finest collections of funerary art in Ireland. This video looks at some of the splendid monuments that mark the final resting place of deceased patriots, artists, merchants, and government officials. The cemetery has witnessed over 300,000 burials, the second highest number of burials of any cemetery Ireland.
