Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh Incredibly Scenic Train Journey | ScotRail Class 158

(4K, 2025, Right-Hand Side) An incredible late spring train journey on a beautiful sunny day aboard a ScotRail Class 158 DMU over the famous Kyle Line, operating the 08:55 service from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh via Dingwall, Scotland, on Monday 5th May 2025. The most scenic train journey I have taken since riding the Bergensbanen from Oslo to Bergen to Norway, the very-remote, single-track Kyle Line from Dingwall to "the Kyle" offers breathtaking scenery from hills, mountains, sheep, rivers, and lochs. Dotted with small villages or settlements, the line features a number of request stops. The route was brought to international fame when it was featured by Monty Python member Michael Palin, in his 1980 train documentary "Great Railway Journeys - Confessions of a Train Spotter", where he travelled from London Euston to Kyle. Kyle is on the coast across from the Isle of Skye. When Palin visited in 1980, the only way to access the Isle from Kyle was by boat. Today, you'll find the Skye Bridge (opened 1995) so that you can walk and drive over to the Isle at Kyleakin. We leave Inverness on the Far North line, travelling alongside the Beauly Firth towards Dingwall, where we branch off to the Kyle Line. The scenery really starts to pick-up at Garve, where we pass Loch Garve, heading into very remote, mountainous terrain. We make a stop at Achnasheen, the most remote location on the line. After leaving Strathcarron, we skirt the edge of Loch Carron towards picturesque Stromeferry, which I think is the best part. After reaching Plockton which is surrounded by a lot of boats, the Isle of Skye comes into view as we close in on Kyle along the stunning coastline.
