1st SOLO | John Wayne Airport | ATC Audio

KSNA 5/31/18 After a few delays over a period of about a month (weather, maintenance, pattern closures) the time finally came for my first solo flight! It was an awesome experience, and not at all as frightening as people have described it in the past. My final practice landing was probably the best one I've ever had. Unfortunately, after I dropped off my instructor, they went from so-so to not so good. But I did't crash and burn, and I can live to fly another day! Landing #1: After a couple small balloons, I manage to settle somewhat gently onto the runway, although fairly flat. Landing #2: I kicked this one off with a pretty decent bounce, but then settled down okay, but a little flat again. Landing #3: I believe I was caught up with what the wind had been doing on my previous two landings, that I forgot to correct at the last minute with some right rudder instead of left. I also let myself drift a little right of center-line because of this. Looks like I came down a little skewed and a bit hard, but luckily Colonel Mustard's Land-O-Matic struts saved the day :)
