Jesus Teaching Week 4 Kingdom of God
“Today’s theme is the Kingdom of God. This is one of the biggest ideas in the Gospel of Mark and in all of Jesus’ teaching. When we hear the word ‘kingdom,’ we may think of castles, kings, queens, crowns, land, armies, or governments. But when Jesus talks about the Kingdom of God, He is talking about something greater than an earthly kingdom. The Kingdom of God means God’s rule and reign. It means God is King. It means His authority is greater than every other authority. It means His will, His values, His justice, His mercy, His truth, and His salvation are breaking into the world through Jesus. Jesus did not come only to give people private religious feelings. He came to announce that God is King and that people must respond. In Mark 1:14–15, Jesus announces that the Kingdom of God has come near. Then He gives two commands: repent and believe the good news. That means the Kingdom requires a response. Today our main idea is this: The Kingdom of God is God’s rule and reign coming through Jesus, and we respond by repenting, believing, and living under His authority.” “Today we learned that the Kingdom of God is not just a religious idea. It is the rule and reign of God coming through Jesus. If Jesus is King, then He has authority over our lives. The question for us is not only, ‘Do I know about the Kingdom?’ The question is, ‘Am I living under the King?’ This week, examine your heart. Ask God to show you what kind of soil you are. If your heart is hard, ask Him to soften it. If your faith is shallow, ask Him to deepen it. If your life is crowded with thorns, ask Him to help you remove distractions. If your heart is receiving the Word, ask Him to produce more fruit. Jesus is King. His Kingdom is near. Repent, believe, receive His Word, and live under His rule.” #faith #Kingdom of God #Parable #Christian Story #Spiritual Growth © Copyright 2026 David Holstein.
