For almost two decades, the film industry has been mutilating Pinhead's legacy and the Hellraiser franchise. Rights holders regularly churn out mediocre direct-to-DVD Hellraiser films. But with Hellraiser: Revelations, they reached an unprecedented, unforgivable low. Hellraiser: Revelations is bad—incredibly bad. In comparison, the previous Hellraiser sequels seem like cinematic milestones. And there's no mistaking that: Anyone who thinks that Hellraiser: Revelations is objectively a good film is completely insane. This video is a kind of investigation into how things got to this point. If they claim it's from the mind of Clive Barker, it's a lie. It's not even from my butthole." Conclusion and Rating: Hellraiser: Revelations – The revelation is bad. And the script had potential because it was another real Hellraiser story. A teenager consumed by lust and greed tries to escape the clutches of the Cenobites. Finally, a Hellraiser sequel that was intended as a Hellraiser film from the start and not, like Hellraiser films 5-8, based on scripts into which Pinhead was written later. Unfortunately, Hellraiser: Revelations nips any potential in the bud with its tight budget and completely incompetent direction. The clowning thesis put on by the actors is unprecedented. The characters are completely disconnected from everything that happens in the film and change moods in a split second. The line delivery is abysmal; you'd think you were watching junior high school students reading aloud from a textbook. The completely exaggerated and incomprehensible behavior of all the characters in Hellraiser: Revelations is, unbelievably, not the worst: The absolute crowning glory is Pinhead. How can anyone rape this character like that? Obviously, his costume and makeup look like they came from a costume discount store—which, according to the crew, it probably did—but the fact that they didn't even edit his voice with reverb and audio filters afterwards is completely incomprehensible. Then there's his facial expressions and the shape of his head—apparently no one cared whether the actor who played Pinhead in Hellraiser: Revelations was even remotely suitable for the role. There are films that are so bad they're good again, like Batman and Robin or A Nightmare on Elm Street 6. But Hellraiser: Revelations is just trash. Absolutely terrible trash. I'll give it one point for some well-done splatter scenes, another point for the memes that spawned this film, and half a point for the extremely unpleasant incest scene. Overall, that's 2.5 out of 10, and that brings us to the absolute nadir of the Hellraiser franchise. Welcome to the deepest circles of hell.
