🎤 Somebody That I Used to Know For this duet, I sang Gotye’s part. Now, if you’ve seen the original music video, you know Gotye is a tall Australian guy covered in body paint. I am, none of those things. But School of Rock is all about commitment, so here we are. This song is a lot trickier than it sounds. The vocals, the harmonies, the timing, and the emotional drama of two people airing their relationship grievances in front of an audience, it has everything. One minute you’re singing softly about heartbreak. The next minute you’re wondering if you’re still in the right key while trying to look emotionally devastated. Performing this song was a blast, and I loved getting the chance to take on the Gotye role. Big thanks to my duet partner, the band, and everyone who came out to support our end-of-season show.
