A-Z Peak District Hike (R–V) | Dovedale, Thorpe Cloud & Hidden Trails You’ve Missed

Come with me on the next part of my A–Z of the Peak District series as I take on letters R–V on a stunning circular hike through one of the most iconic areas in the National Park. Starting in Dovedale, this route takes in some of the most famous landmarks in the Peak District, as well as a hidden path I’d never explored before and that’s exactly why I started this series… to discover new places and routes I might have otherwise missed. Along the way, I visit Reynard’s Arch, cross (or attempt to!) the famous stepping stones in Dovedale, and hike up Thorpe Cloud, a beautiful spot for sunrise and sunset, even if I was a little late on this occasion. From there, I explore a lesser-known trail through Upper Taylor’s Wood, a hidden gem with incredible views that loops you back around perfectly. To finish, I walk through above the stunning Dovedale Valley and chat about the difference between a valley and a dale. Everyday is a school day here.. taught myself this only just before sharing with you. This is a fantastic circular walk for hikers looking to mix iconic spots with quieter, lesser-known trails. ⸻ R - Reynard's Arch S - Stepping Stones T - Thorpe Cloud U - Upper Taylor's Wood V - Valley (Dovedale) ⸻ Pin - Dovedale, Peak District Car - Parking - DE6 2AY (National Trust) Distance - 7 Miles Difficulty - Moderate.
