60163 Tornado Powers "The Shap Mountaineer" Plus 34067 Tangmere Cumbrian Mountain Express 28/03/2026

60163 Tornado would be seen at the helm of the Vintage Trains excursion from Birmingham New Street to Carlisle. The tour would depart Birmingham New Street ontime at 06:33 and headed out from Platform 1 at New Street via Duddeston and Bescot to arrive at the first pickup location of Wolverhampton. After this the tour would continue down to Stafford the second pickup before arriving at Crewe where the diesel would be detached off the tour leaving 60163 to haul the charter to Carlisle. The first location where 60163 Tornado is captured is crossing the Winsford Canal just before Winsford Station. Following this the next location is Shap Wells. Here we see 34067 Tangmere climbing up the Grade to Shap Summit before 60163 Tornado following about 7 minutes later. After this it was time to head over to the Settle and Carlisle Line. Here we see 34067 Tangmere at Greengates just after Kirkby Stephen. Here 34067 is seen heading towards Ais Gill with minimal assistance from the diesel on the rear. Following this and a quick relocation closer to the car 60163 Tornado is seen at Wharton Lane heading for Greengates and Ais Gill unaided. After a mad dash back to the car 60163 is seen at Vicarage Lane near Langho climbing Wilpshire Bank heading for Blackburn. With the final shot of the day looming 60163 is seen with the whistle blaring through Acton Bridge heading back to Crewe and down to Birmingham New Street.
