Support me on Patreon -   / polyusstudios   In 1946, the National Research Council of Canada built the NRC Tailless Glider to advance research into high-efficiency swept-wing and flying-wing designs. Designed with help from British pioneer Geoffrey Hill, the two-crew wooden glider featured a 14-meter wingspan, retractable landing gear, and innovative pivoting wingtips to tackle the inherent longitudinal instabilities of tailless aircraft. Towed by an RCAF DC-3 from Edmonton to Ontario for extensive instrument testing, the glider successfully gathered vital stability and aerodynamic data. The experimental program concluded in 1950, contributing to the foundational history that eventually enabled modern stealth aircraft and UAVs.
